Chris Suspect’s Top Five Music Photography Tips

Abbey Road Zeitgesit Chris Suspect

Hear him discuss his top five tips for music photographers below:

“My top five tips for any music photographer….

  1. Make sure your batteries are fully charged and your memory cards are empty so you can fill them up with all the photos from the show and not run out of space.

  2. Always do your best to get up front for any show. You'll have unfettered, unblocked visual access to the performers.

  3. Never second guess yourself. Always take the picture. And if you think you've taken that picture before, go ahead and try to do something different with that perspective, include another band member or something cool in the background.

  4. Always get your images back to the club and the musicians after you shoot. You want them to know that you value the fact that you either got in for free or gave you the access you needed. So it's always good to do that.

  5. Share your work. But not all of it. Just share some of your best photos online and with the band. Don't give them every photo and don't post like 80 photos."
