WHAT WE DO

We've evolved, and so has our mission. Together we are shaping the future of music storytelling....

What started in 2022 as an awards ceremony to celebrate the incredible talent in music photography has grown into a year-round commitment to inform and empower music photographers of all levels. Embraced by the community our work encompasses events, exhibitions, workshops, learning resources & much more. Aligning with our purpose and ambition, we have changed the programme’s name to the Music Photography Accelerator - a name that acknowledges what we are doing and where we're going.

While the Awards recognise excellence, we continue to support, elevate and invest in the next generation of music photographers, so the name change reflects and recognises our ongoing commitment to growth, mentorship & opportunities.

The Accelerator is about impact, providing photographers with tools, experiences and networks to take their craft to the next level. A launchpad designed not just to spotlight talent, but to nurture it.

Alongside our photography community, together we are shaping the future of music iconography & storytelling.

At the heart of the MPA lies our desire to create opportunities for photographers to be seen and heard.

This is at the front and centre of what we do and has seen us expand with initiatives including an online self-learning platform, exhibitions, networking nights, a podcast & much more. Sign up to our newsletter to join the community.

Photography has defined some of the greatest moments in the history of music.

Music and photography go hand in hand. Visual storytelling is deeply connected with music making and plays an integral role in how it’s shared with the world. Music photography captures moments in time that create music iconography that lives on in the minds of audiences forever.

Abbey Road is synonymous with one of the most iconic photographs in music history, namely the cover for The Beatles’ Abbey Road. The images taken inside Abbey Road have played a defining role in each generation’s relationship with music. Because of this, it felt right to continue documenting music iconography.

The Abbey Road Music Photography Awards celebrates, showcases & supports the global community of music photographers and the images that create & shape culture and connect music fans to the artists they love. These images define music iconography and contribute to documenting its history for generations to come.

Our free to enter global competition celebrates the unforgettable, unique & unsung music moments & the photographers who captured them.

The culmination of the MPA is the awards ceremony at Abbey Road Studios. The evening centres around showcasing the photographer’s nominated images, which are displayed around the Studios.

There is a thread that binds the evening together: the creative community coming together to support each other. Seeing the work of the ICON winner displayed alongside the nominees tells the story of the MPA: emerging, established & undiscovered photographers, celebrating the art of music photography.
