Adam Ziegenhals

"I’m a music photographer based in Oakland, CA. I cover DIY and independent scenes across America and the world. I aim to bring Magnum-quality photography to these underrepresented spaces in order to capture the brilliant nature of the artists and crowds that occupy them.

I’m currently working on a project to cover these spaces in America post-pandemic to see how the landscape has changed since the pandemic eased. I’ve covered 44 states, 90+ cities, and 200+ venues, basements, backyards, skateparks, VFW halls, and anywhere you can set up a generator. This work is a follow up to my coverage of the Los Angeles punk scene, published in a book titled They Live, which covered live music during and immediately after the Covid-19 lockdowns."
